A Note From Chris - June 16, 2022

CHURCH!

As your summer plans (at the very least, lowering the AC temp in your house) are most certainly underway, our summer sermon series is also in full form!

If you’ve missed any of the last few weeks of “My Piece of the Pie” where we’ve been talking about a Biblical view on generosity, you can go back and catch those on the website or on YouTube. Getting a better grip on how we view and handle finances is not just God-honoring, but truly it is critical to our spiritual health. I’m prayerful each of us is considering what step we need to take regarding finances to take regarding finances to align our checkbooks with the Good Book.

We wrap it up this weekend, and we are finishing up by actually eating pie! Every person who attends worship this weekend will not only be challenged to grow in their generosity for Jesus, but they will also get a personal pie. That’s how dads roll on Father’s Day. We want everyone to have some pie. Take a moment and read through 2 Corinthians 9 to prep for the weekend.

Next weekend, we launch a new series called, “After Amen.” Have you ever wondered why some of your prayers seem to go unanswered? Sometimes we pray, and then we wait. God doesn’t always work on our timeline. So what do we do during the waiting? How did Jesus show us to live in the tension of unanswered or not-yet prayers? Rusty George, pastor of Real Life Christian Church in Valencia, CA wrote a great book on the subject. Next weekend, Rusty will be speaking at Cornerstone to launch the series for us. His book, “After Amen,” will be available for purchase at both campuses. I hope you will plan to join us (and bring $15 for the book)! Check out the series intro here.

We launched a summer Bible reading plan through the gospels. If you could use some consistency in your Bible reading this summer, join others from Cornerstone on this reading plan that will be a great supplement to “After Amen.” Find the plan here.

I’m truly excited as I anticipate what God is going to do among us. There is so much good, so much ministry, so much love throughout our church, and I can sense there is only more on the horizon. Keep praying for our church and our impact on each other, this community, and the world. Love you all!

Yours & His,
Chris VandeLinde
