A Note From Chris - May 5, 2022

Mother’s Day is Sunday! You have been forewarned.

It will be a special weekend for families everywhere, and that is also true with our church family at Cornerstone. We will have some special things for moms at church this weekend, but the most special thing will be the hundreds of moms who gather with their family and church to worship and celebrate his love for us.  In prep for part 3 of our, “Help Me Understand…” series, please read Romans 1-3 and invite a One to come with you this Sunday to O’Fallon or Shiloh.

As we continue to work toward normalcy in society after a couple years of COVID, our church is refocusing and beginning to really be able to plan down the road once again. This year, we have two big initiatives that our staff are focused on and praying toward:

1. Prayerfully consider what God wants us to do to become growing disciples making growing disciples.

2. Evaluate and refocus our strategic efforts on reaching our community and beyond.

Both lost a bit of focus during COVID, and its time we refocus. Currently, our staff Lead Team are part of a multiplication cohort with two other churches to talk about multiplication and disciple-making. We are hopeful and prayerful it will help guide us toward being more focused on empowering each other forward to reaching our Ones.

If disciple-making increasingly becomes about every believer reaching their circle of influence, then the sky is the limit on what God can do through us.

This week, our ministry staff spent 2 days with a group called Intentional Churches, who help churches all across the country refocus their strategic efforts and design some targets for the future. It was encouraging and challenging, and gave us quite a bit to process and focus on as we move toward summer.

One of the initiatives launching out of that meeting is a drive to onboard 100 new volunteers in our church in the very near future. If you’ve fallen off serving or have been considering it but haven’t pulled the trigger yet, this is a GREAT time for you to get on a team for the summer. God is bringing an increase all around us. Both campuses are growing. New guests are increasing. Finances are stabilizing. Baptisms are happening every week. Lives are being transformed. Please join me in prayer continually that God would use our church to be a force in our region for the power of the gospel.

See you Sunday!
Yours & His,
Chris VandeLinde
