A Note From Chris June 3, 2021

CHURCH!

Starting this Sunday, we are launching into a brand new summer series called "Exodus: Knowing the One True God." Over the next 10 weeks, we are going to walk together through the OT book of Exodus, the story of God rescuing Israel from slavery in Egypt.

You may know Exodus as the book of baby Moses floating in the Nile River, or the Israelites as slaves, or Moses demanding that Pharaoh let God’s people go. It’s also the book of the 10 plagues and the Passover lamb. There is so much life in these stories, and even more through the pages of Exodus where God consistently meets his people and shows himself to them.

While the story of Exodus is over 3,000 years old and is filled with experiences and stories to which we cannot personally relate, it is also our story. A story of people with real struggles, real successes, real questions, and a God who is always pursuing and always making himself known.

We will break Exodus up into three different “acts,” each covering around a month and highlighting the passages with that act.

I hope you will join us this summer on this journey. We’ve put together a number of resources for further discovery this summer. You can find them all on this website: onecornerstone.org/exodus
Please check it out! Dig in and let’s grow together this summer.

Here are a few of the key resources we have provided:

1) A Bible Reading Plan – You can print this out or save it to your phone for quick reference. Each week has a chunk of Scripture to read. Break it up however works best for your schedule. Grab a Study Bible or some other study helps and let’s work through this text together.

2) Experiencing Exodus – We’ve solicited the expertise and help of a couple Bible professors who will shine some light and additional insights into Exodus. Each week, one of them will share a 10 minute video with some supplemental materials. Check back each week for a new teaching video!

3) Videos and websites – We’ve provided a number of different links and resources for those wanting to gain greater understanding into the background, meaning, and significance of Exodus in the Christian faith.

Join us this weekend in Shiloh, O’Fallon, or Cornerstone Anywhere (online) as we launch into Exodus together. Take a moment and read Exodus 1 in preparation of our time of worship together, and make plans to worship with your church family.

Yours and His,
Chris VandeLinde
