A Note From Chris - May 12, 2022

I’m encouraged by some of the feedback I’ve gotten over the past few weeks in our “Help Me Understand” series, tackling some of the big questions in the Christian faith. If you’ve been missing it…..you’re missing it! Join us this weekend as we tackle the topic of suffering. To be frank, it’s painful to write about and preach about suffering, but really encouraging to know the love of God and the presence of God transcends any and all suffering in this world. I hope to see you Sunday! In other news…

After a LOOOONG delay, we are once again planning some international trips as a church! Below are the details for a number of upcoming trips that are in the hopper for the near future.

1. Tour of Israel – February 18-28, 2023
Estimated cost: $4,100 each

After being canceled last year, I’m excited to be personally leading a trip to the Holy Land in association with Pilgrim Tours along with Doyle and Jean Roth from Harvester Christian Church in Missouri. It will be an incredible tour of the places Jesus walked like Jerusalem, the Mount of Olives, Gethsemane, Bethlehem, Nazareth, Magdala, Pools of Bethesda, Pool of Siloam, Sea of Galilee, Dead Sea, the Garden Tomb, and many, many more. We will build the trip around a Bible study that walks us through not just seeing old sites where something happened then, but prayerfully exploring God’s Word and his story in those places for what he wants to teach us through those places today.

This is not a missions trip, but an experiential trip that is a very unique spiritual experience looking at God’s Word in the places it actually happened. I can’t wait to experience Israel with our church. There is really nothing like being there in person, and I believe should be a bucket list item for every Christian. I hope you will pray about going with me!

2. India – Near October 16-25, 2022
With global partner Central India Christian Mission
Estimated cost: $2,500

Cornerstone sponsors a youth conference each year in Damoh, India that last year reached over 10,000 students in-person and online. Our team will participate on-site with the conference and experience this incredible ministry in-person.

3. Turkey – October 6-13, 2022
With global partner Team Expansion
Estimated cost: $2,000

This team will experience ministry in a nation often resistant to the gospel in the city of Ankara. The trip will include cultural experiences, prayer walks, and encouragement to our global partners. This trip includes extensive travel.

4. Dominican Republic – Early January 2023
With global partner Eastern Dominican Christian Mission
Estimated cost: >$1,000

Relationship building, encouraging church planters and leaders, assisting in Vacation Bible School, and experiencing God’s movement and growth among the churches in the Eastern part of the DR will be central for this trip. No special skills are necessary.

Of course, all of these trips are subject to change with the influx of COVID and other factors, but we are prayerful that we will once again be a sending church, empowering our body to be the hands and feet not only at home, but also across the world.

I can safely say that nothing has changed my life and faith more than mission trips. God has forever shifted my understanding of his world through it, and I encourage you to prayerfully consider going on one of these global trips!

If you have any interest, please take a moment and shoot your name and email here so you can be on the list to get more information as it becomes available. You won’t regret it!

Yours & His,
Chris VandeLinde
